Delta County Independent: Joe O’Dea headlines Delta’s Republican rally

On Friday, the Delta GOP hosted a republican candidate meet-and-greet rally, where the key speaker was Joe O’Dea, candidate for U.S. Senate.

Other candidates included Delta County Commissioner Mike Lane, who is running for his second term in office; Rep. Matt Soper, candidate for House District (HD) 54; Representative Marc Catlin, candidate for HD 58; and a handful of others.

O’Dea concluded the event, promising to stand for Colorado in a way he said his opponent, Michael Bennett, does not.

O’Dea said he’s worried about the direction the country’s headed.

“I want to back our cops, I want to back our military,” O’Dea said. “I mean, we need safety here in the United States. Right now, we’ve got record crimes. As (Rep. Matt Soper) was saying, crime’s up 30%. Colorado is the third worst state for violent crime in the United States.”

“I’m running against a guy who hasn’t been Colorado’s senator,” O’Dea said. “He’s been Washington’s senator.”

The meet-and-greet followed the speakers.
